Hello everyone, it is a joy to be with you once again and to be meditating on God's word and
today, we will talk about pursuing spiritual strength. Let's begin by reading a couple of verses
from Ephesians chapter 3 and verse 16, ‘that He would grant you, according to the riches of His
glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.’ Let's also read
Colossians chapter 1 and verse 11, ‘Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious
power, for all patience and long suffering with joy.’ As we consider both of these statements
written by Paul, encouraging the believers in two different churches, we notice that he wants
them to develop strength and he is also pointing to the inner man or the inner being. We do
know that we are a tripart being- we are spirit, soul and body. Often times, we place a lot of
importance on the external but sometimes we forget the inner man or the part where God
ministers by His Spirit or our spirit man. Here we notice Paul encouraging the believers to keep
the inner man or the spirit man strong. So how is it that you and I are going to strengthen the
spirit man? Now we do know that the spirit man develops when nurtured by the word of God,
nurtured with the word of God. And this is so important for us. The spirit man also develops
when we pray in the Spirit. We see a scripture in Jude verse 21 that encourages us to
strengthen ourselves in our most holy faith by praying in this Spirit. And so, these are all ways in
which we can strengthen the spirit man. We do not need to be weak in our spirit man. As we
look at the words of the writer to the Hebrews, he speaks in Hebrews chapter 6 and verse 1,
stating that by a certain time in the journey the believers ought to have become stronger by
now, they ought to have become strong enough to lead other people but it seems like they
were still not at that level and so he encourages them to rise up in the Lord. Today, as we
consider our journey with the Lord, let's go from strength to strength and glory to glory. May
our spirit man grow up in the Lord and experience the greatness, the glory that God has to offer
us and that's our prayer for each one of us listening right now. So, let's go ahead and let's pray
together and ask the Lord to help us strengthen our inner man. Heavenly Father, we pray that
you will put us on track to develop our spirit man, that we will set aside time and we will
commit to our personal spiritual growth. Even as we do that Lord that we will come into
maturity and that our lives will be a blessing to many people, we thank you and we praise you,
in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
